This policy explains what personal information Magnetic Media collects through this website, why we collect it and the choices you have. It applies to the pages of this site, including the newsletter and alert sign-ups and the media-kit and contact forms.

Who we are

Magnetic Media is a Caribbean culture and lifestyle platform, published by Magnetic Media. When this policy says "we", "us" or "our", it means Magnetic Media, the publisher of this site.

Information we collect

Information you give us. We only ask for what we need to respond:

• Newsletter and alerts. Your email address and the alerts you choose (for example breaking news or the daily briefing).
• Media kit requests. Your email address and the opportunity you are interested in.
• Contact form. Your name and email address, your message and its topic, and, if you choose to add them, your company and phone number.

Information collected automatically. To understand which pages are read, we count page views ourselves. For each page view we record the page address, the website you arrived from (the site name only, never the full address), the date and time, and a random visit identifier. That identifier is generated in your browser, kept in its session storage for the length of your visit and hashed before it is sent to us, so it cannot be traced back to you. We do not record your name, your email address or your IP address with page views, and we do not build profiles of individual visitors. Our hosting and database providers may keep standard technical logs, such as IP addresses, for security and reliability.

How we use information

• To send the newsletter and alerts you asked for.
• To reply to your enquiries and send the media kit or other information you requested.
• To understand which stories, programmes and pages are used so we can improve the site and report overall audience figures to advertisers and sponsors, as totals and never as individuals.
• To keep the site secure and to prevent spam and abuse.

We do not sell your personal information.

Who we share it with

We share information only with service providers who help us run the site, such as hosting, database and email delivery providers, and only so they can provide those services to us. We may also disclose information when the law requires it or to protect the rights, safety and security of our visitors and our business. Our providers may process information in countries other than your own.

How long we keep it

Newsletter and alert subscriptions are kept until you unsubscribe. Enquiries are kept for as long as needed to deal with them and for a reasonable period afterwards for our records. Page-view records are kept in a form that does not identify you.

Cookies and similar technologies

This site stores one item in your browser's session storage: the random visit identifier described above. It is removed when you close the tab. The site does not currently set advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. If we add an analytics or advertising service that uses cookies, we will say so in this policy before it starts.

Your choices

• You can ask us to remove you from the newsletter or alerts at any time.
• You can ask us what personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct or delete it.
• You can clear your browser's session storage whenever you like.

Children

This site is meant for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect the information you send us, including encrypted connections and restricted access to enquiries and subscriber lists. No online service can promise perfect security, so please take care what you share.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when our practices or the law change. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last updated. Material changes will be highlighted on this page.
